The Expenditure breakdown, and why spend is shown per currency

The Expenditure tab shows your annualised software spend and lets you slice it four ways. Use the toggle to break spend down by Owner, Vendor, Category or Business unit. Whichever you pick, the table regroups instantly and the headline total updates to match.

Every figure is annualised, so different billing cycles compare fairly. A monthly cost becomes twelve payments a year, a quarterly cost becomes four, and an annual cost is taken as is. One-off purchases contribute nothing to the yearly run-rate, because they are not a recurring cost.

Each row shows the group name, its annualised amount (with a small bar for quick visual comparison), its share of the total as a percentage, and how many tools sit in that group. Any tool with no value for the chosen dimension, for example no owner set, is gathered under 'Unassigned' so nothing is quietly dropped. You can sort by any column, and the table pages ten rows at a time.

Spend is always shown per currency and is never summed across currencies, because adding pounds to dollars gives a number that means nothing. If your estate uses more than one currency, a currency toggle appears so you can switch between them; each currency has its own total and its own breakdown, with the largest total shown first.

The figures here are calculated over the same set of tools as the dashboard's annual spend metric and the reports timeline, so the numbers line up across the app. Archived records are excluded, while every other record is counted at face value, including cancelled ones, so the total reflects what is on your books today.

A good way to use this tab is to switch to Vendor or Category to find where the money concentrates, then to Owner or Business unit to see who is accountable for it. If a total looks off, check the currency toggle first, then look for a large 'Unassigned' group, which usually means some tools are missing an owner, vendor or category.
