The dashboard and its headline stats

The dashboard is your home screen and it answers one question: what needs my attention? Across the top sit five headline stats, and below them an Action needed list, a breakdown by criticality, and your most recent alerts. It only counts tools that are live in your register - archived tools are left out of every dashboard number, even though they still count towards your plan.

Total software is simply how many tools you are actively tracking. It is a count of the records in your register, not including anything you have archived.

Annual spend is your cost across the estate, annualised so everything is comparable: a monthly cost is multiplied by twelve, a quarterly cost by four, an annual cost is taken as-is, and one-off costs are treated as zero for this rolling figure. Costs are summed per currency and never mixed, so a blended estate shows something like £4,200 + $1,900 rather than one misleading total.

Renewing in 30 days counts the tools whose renewal falls within the next month, with the number due within 90 days shown just beneath it. This tile turns amber when anything is renewing soon, so it is your early warning for what is coming up.

Notice window counts the tools where you are inside the cancellation-notice period on an auto-renewing contract - in other words, the ones where a keep-or-cancel decision is needed right now before they roll over. Overdue or expired counts tools whose renewal date has passed without a decision, or that you have marked expired. Both tiles turn red when they are not zero, because these are the ones that cost money if ignored.

The Action needed list gathers the most urgent tools into one place - anything overdue, expired, in a notice window, due soon or coming up - and sorts them so the nearest deadline is at the top. It shows up to eight tools, each with its status badge, its vendor, and either the renewal date or the cancel-by date, whichever matters. Select any row to open that tool.

On the side you get a breakdown by criticality, so you can see how much of your estate is business-critical rather than nice-to-have, and a Recent alerts panel listing the last few reminder emails StackTrackr sent, so you can confirm the right people were told in time. When nothing needs action, the list is replaced by an all-clear message - which is exactly where you want to be.
